WARRANT Guitarist Says First Post-Reunion Rehearsal With JANI Was 'Very Cool And Surreal'
April 1, 2008Deb Rao of Saviours of Rock recently conducted an interview with WARRANT guitarist Erik Turner. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
Saviours of Rock: Is the band currently in rehearsal? How does it feel to be playing with Jani [Lane, vocals] again?
Erik: We have only rehearsed once, but it was very cool and surreal. We will be jamming more often now as the tour dates are coming in.
Saviours of Rock: Is Jaime St. James [most recent WARRANT vocalist] cool with the current situation and reunion of WARRANT?
Erik: Jaime is a great guy and understands we have a very rare opportunity to do something special here. We haven't played live together in over 14 years. If we were a bottle of wine, it would taste damn good!
Saviours of Rock: What were your initial thoughts when the thought of the reunion was being tossed around? Did you feel that it was the right time and place to bring the original line-up back on the music scene?
Erik: My initial thoughts were give Jani a call and see what happens. I'm still seeing what happens as we go along into the summer. It's great having the five of us back together!
Saviours of Rock: Does it feel kind of like dj-vu all over again? Would you say all the pieces of the puzzle fit back perfectly again and the chemistry remains intact?
Erik: It feels right and all the parts are there, we just need to get out and play live! "Down Boys" was the first song we played at rehearsal and I got chills hearing WARRANT for the first time in so many fucking years. Wow, this is what we are supposed to sound like.
Saviours of Rock: Any plans to go into the studio to record new material?
Erik: In the fall, if all goes as planned we will record a new CD for a 2009 release.
